So my husband's poor dog was fixed today - yup she got all her girl bits cut out. All we had to do was not feed her after a certain time last night then Brian took her to the vet's at 7 am and then picked her up at 5pm. When Brian brought her home she just stood in the entry way with her head down and was glaring at us. Um..... CREEPY! She finally came in and Brian got her to lay down on her bed. But she was soo sooooo pissed at Brian! When he would go to her she would totally get up and move her head and body in the other direction! Brian was so distraught that his baby hated him! Our dog seriously was way traumatised today! So then Brian told me about what they said at the vet's when he picked her up. Wheezy went CUJO CRAZY!! After she woke up from her little surgery she went nuts - she was mean growling at the vet and his helpers and when ever they would try to come near her she would try to bite them! This is totally NOT normal for my dog - my dog is actually really really nice. They had to get one of those dog catcher type things - the huge long pole with a rope at the end - to be able to move her to the other room. When Brian picked her up she was just sitting in the kennel looking all pissed and was all bloody. I guess she was so crazy they put her straight into a kennel to let her calm down - they weren't able to get close enough to her to clean up her incision area. She calmed down enough when Brian got there that Wheezy let people touch her - so they got her all cleaned up and Brian brought her home. One of the girls said that it was the most "exciting" thing that had happened at the vet's office in three weeks.
Anyway so Wheezy gradually got more and more normal with Brian. It helped when our friend Sarah (who is one of Wheezy's favorite people in the world) came over to borrowing something - Wheezy actually got a little animated (wagging her tail and stood up) and was all about Sarah. After that she started to trust Brian again. Brian had to stay on the floor right next to her all evening though.
She is puking and can I just tell you how incredibly nasty that is? She is a big dog which equals a lot of puke. I almost became a sympathetic puker like Scott Allen. Brian took the satellite cone thing off her neck and she doesn't seem to want to mess with her stitches much. We have to watch her like every second - to make sure she doesn't mess with her stitches and to make sure she doesn't puke or go to be bathroom on our brand new rug. She can't be outside for like 5 days! And tomorrow Brian has to work so I have to babysit her - I'm so scared! It's no secret that Wheezy and I aren't best friends so I'm scared she is going to go all Cujo and kill me or puke/pee/poop on the rug which grosses me out so bad right now that I can't even stand the idea of having to clean up after her. Seriously being prego really enhances my gag reflex when it comes to my dog. We can't just leave her in the house unattended at night while we go to bed so Brian was ok (thank heaven's) with kenneling her - but her kennel has to be in our room and we oddly enough have to have a night light on. She started to freak out a little after we turned off the light.
She won't eat or drink anything and keeps puking. And her ribs are totally sticking out of her skin and looking all starved Ethiopian kinda thing. So Brian is probably going to IV her some fluids tomorrow when he gets home from work. Pray that his dog doesn't die on my watch - it's something Brian could never forgive me of!

Um....creepy dog....you took her girl parts...so she is going to try and take yours now...BEWARE!!! That is why I don't have animals! If you have to IV a dog...maybe you could put a little "happy" juice in her IV too...hehehehe!
Haha...okay, I feel bad for her because she has to live so she's there when we come cause Cade loves her. Good luck!
Soooo.... let me get this straight. Are we praying she lives or dies? he he he... kidding. Don't show Brian this! he he I'm totally joking. REALLY!

That is scary. At least you didn't have to see her like that. I know that it's harder for dogs to recover from that once they've gone through their first heat so maybe that's why she was utterly wiggin' out.
